Asbestos Abatement

About Asbestos

Asbestos is a carcinogen that was used extensively in building materials prior to the 1970s. It can be commonly found in a duct and pipe insulation, vermiculite attic insulation, ceiling and wall acoustical tiles, cement asbestos siding, and floor tiles (and adhesives).

Please do not let that frighten you, though. If the asbestos-containing materials in your home are undamaged, contact Encompass Environmental® immediately. It’s more dangerous to disturb them, says the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) so it is best to contact professionals to take care of this for you.

Our Approach

  1. Testing – Encompass environment works closely with a third party industrial hygienist to make sure the home is appropriately tested, and a protocol is written for the removal or cleaning of the contaminated areas. It is a state regulation that all known asbestos containing materials must be tested before removal.

  2. Abatement - Asbestos removal is normally required before an older building is demolished, prior to any maintenance or renovation that could disturb asbestos-containing materials or when asbestos-containing materials are damaged. Encompass Environmental has the knowledge and experience to work with the industrial hygienist, state government and disposal sites to remove and dispose of waste from any type of structure.

  3. Clearance – A clearance test will be performed by a third party industrial hygienist to insure the property and remaining materials are free from asbestos fibers. This is very important as it gives encompass environmental and the customer the information needed to reoccupy a residence without concern.
